Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within Dol-Makjar.

Heads-up: Spoilers for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their independent quest, separate from the additional parties.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be impossible.

This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.

Characteristics of the Soldiers Table

According to the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for participants who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy narrative style where peaceful solutions are few and far between.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the events of episode 3 demonstrate why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to auction.

The antagonist then paid off his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.

Character Drivers

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The agile hero, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
  • The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
  • The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the group enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the family.

This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.

Future Episodes

From the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can anticipate finding out which adventurers will be in which group in the season’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
