Fast bowler Gus Atkinson Compounds the English team's Fitness Problems.
'Serious blow' for England after Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.
The pace bowler added to England's injury problems when he left the field during Saturday's play in the Melbourne Test in the Ashes series.
Atkinson felt a problem in his left hamstring post-delivery that he bowled during the morning session.
Team management indicated Atkinson reported "discomfort" and was to take time away from the action to undergo evaluation "over the next few hours".
The final Test of the series beginning on 4 January starts at the end of the week.
England have already lost strike bowlers one seamer due to knee trouble and another paceman because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.
Matthew Fisher was called up to provide backup.
The seamer had a tough time early in the series, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.
He was left out from the previous Test, before being recalled for the Boxing Day match as Archer's replacement.
The county bowler performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets with the ball, then making 28 as a batsman as one of just three England players to reach double figures.
After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he resumed the next day and removed Scott Boland taken by the wicketkeeper.
However, on the final ball of his spell, he sent down a slower ball to Travis Head and promptly felt for his hamstring.
Atkinson was brought back for the Melbourne match having missed the Adelaide game.
