Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the untimely deaths of renowned film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were discovered at their Los Angeles home residence on Sunday.

The Discovery

As detailed in an account citing a person close to the family, a massage therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the house. This individual then reached out to the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.

Upon entering the home, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was also present. A companion who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Subsequently, first responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Proceedings

Authorities have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of murder in the first degree, along with the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is currently in custody and denied bail.

Correcting the Record

The anonymous source challenged several earlier details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a guesthouse on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.

Furthermore pushed back against published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the weeks leading up to the incident. Instead the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction applies to accounts of reportedly "unstable" behavior by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien on the night before the bodies were found. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they asserted that claims of a "blow-up" between the two were untrue.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

Per law enforcement sources, the medical examiner had yet to determine as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary accounts suggested the condition of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday, but his lawyer, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not received medical clearance and would not be present until Wednesday at the earliest.
